Ceramic Coating
Ceramic coated headers
Ceramic coating is a thermal barrier coating able to withstand 1,300 degree temperatures WITHOUT discoloration. No "blue-ing"!
Ceramic coating looks FANTASTIC! It gives your part that near chrome appearance. Many professional builders are now using our ceramic coating to achieve the chrome-like finish not only on exhaust components but other parts as well like A-arms, brackets, and trim pieces.
FAQs:
What is ceramic coating?
It is far different than powder coating. It is a water-based wet spray mix that takes several preparation steps to ensure proper adhesion and durability. The part is sandblasted to remove any rust or other contaminants, cleaned, pre-baked and then coated. After the coating is applied the part is baked at 550 degrees to cure the ceramic. Then it is placed in a vibratory polisher to bring out the chrome-like finish.
What colors are available?
Polished chrome-look, black, and cast are our biggest sellers but there are others available on request.
Can I sandblast my own parts to save money?
No, because once the part gets to us who knows what kind of contaminants have got on it. Plus, we guarantee the finish so we need to follow our preparation steps.
What kind of warranty do you have?
All ceramics come with a 1 year warranty. If the part fails due to the coating process we will re-coat the part at no charge. The warranty does not cover abuse from beating them up installing them. (And yes trying to dent them with a hammer to gain the needed clearance for installation will damage them and will not be covered under our warranty.) The warranty does not cover removal or installation cost or replacement gaskets. (Yes, we actually had someone want us to warranty their headers after the car had an engine fire. Sorry, that's not covered either.)
If you have any questions about what coating would be right for you give us a call. We will be glad to spend some time with you to help you get the end result you are after.
